[Pkg-exim4-users] exim4 4.84-8 does not install / configure on debian Jessie ARM

as the error message clearly states your system is lacking the group
"mail". Have you any idea why?

Hi, yes I understand that group mail is not found during the set-up of
the
package. Anyway, it exists.

This typically happens when /etc/nsswitch.conf is misconfigured or the
/etc/group file was corrupted in some weird way.

I used "grpck" to check the /etc/group file. No errors were reported.
I replaced my nsswitch.conf file with the default one (out of package
base-
files, which was also not much of a difference). Then I tried again. The
problem stays the same.

I'm out of ideas then.

Solved - /etc/group file was ok, but not file permissions. 0600 is not enough.
Changed to 0644 and everything works fine.
