I'm trying to setup Exim4 with Mailman. I'm on Debian testing. I have
router and everything setup according to the excellent Exim how-to.
The server can send messages, but if I reply to the sender the error
logs shows Unrouteable address. I'm using split configuration file.

exim4 -bt ***@lists.myschool.org
R: system_aliases for ***@lists.myschool.org
***@lists.myschool.org is undeliverable: Unrouteable address

Had the same problem on wheezy a few month ago and got it solved with
great help from this list.

Your error was to use split configuration while having non-split
configuration selected. James explicitly says that he is already using
split config, so his issue might be something else.

Greetings

What exactly did you do?

And where did you place the mailman router?
It might help to look at exim's debug output.

Greetings
